Gordon Winiemko

Gordon Winiemko is an internationally exhibited filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist. He received his MFA in Art from UC Irvine and a BA in Film/Video Studies from the University of Michigan.

Gordons work is an investigation of the cultural framework  those things we do that are so commonplace that we often forget how they shape our lives, for better or for worse. The moving image is central to Gordons practice because it is the screen that plays a significant role in the construction and dissemination of those things we do. By framing performative actions and social interactions within the screen and by appropriating and remixing screen tropes, Gordons work sets the stage for the re-examination of otherwise transparent social structures.

Gordons work has been shown at a host of media festivals and conferences, such as the International Symposium on Electronic Art, Stuttgart Filmwinter, and SXSW; at exhibition spaces in the greater Los Angeles area like the UCR ARTS Sweeney Art Gallery, Torrance Art Museum, LACE, and Monte Vista Projects, and at screening venues like Anthology Film Archives, the Aurora Picture Show, the Blinding Light, and the late, great Echo Park Film Center.

Gordon has taught film production and post-production at 窪蹋勛圖 Fullerton, Fullerton College, and Los Angeles Mission College.
